“Again, it is written,
‘You shall not test
the Lord, your God.’” MATT 4:7
“Get behind me, Satan!
For it is written,
‘You shall worship
the Lord your God,
and you shall serve him only.’” MATT 4:10
Do you ever try to put God’s crown upon your head? Do you try to rule over the situations in your life? Satan wanted to be like God and pride was his downfall. God wants to sit on the throne of your life. He sent Jesus to be with you in the little lowly issues along the dusty road so you may live a peaceful abundant life. He wants to carry your burdens. Are you willing to humble yourself and wear a crown of thorns instead? Let him be lord of your life.
Dear Lord, forgive my arrogance. Help me find humility, trusting you and always putting you first. May I see you especially in the seemingly meaningless menial tasks of life. Let me love you with all my heart, all my mind, all my strength and all my might. To you alone I give all the glory and honor rightfully due you. I love you and praise you forever!
“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” ~ “How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, who laid the nations low! You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend into heaven! I will exalt my throne above the stars of God! I will sit on the mountain of assembly, in the far north! I will ascend above the heights of the clouds! I will make myself like the Most High!’ Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, to the depths of the pit. Those who see you will stare at you. They will ponder you, saying, ‘Is this the man who made the earth to tremble, who shook kingdoms; who made the world like a wilderness, and overthrew its cities; who didn’t release his prisoners to their home?’” ~ “Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” ~ “Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” ~ “Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility, to subject yourselves to one another; for ‘God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’ Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.”
