"You are the salt of the earth,
but if the salt has lost its flavor,
with what will it be salted?
It is then good for nothing,
but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.
You are the light of the world.
A city located on a hill can't be hidden.
Neither do you light a lamp,
and put it under a measuring basket,
but on a stand; and it shines
to all who are in the house.
Even so, let your light shine before men;
that they may see your good works,
and glorify your Father who is in heaven."
MATT. 5:13-16

Salt enhances the flavor of food, but doesn't change its essence. It calls attention to the food's best qualities. Seeing an object in daylight shows all its finer points whereas seeing it in the dark only offers a silhouette. Salt enhances the best taste in food just as light brings forth clarity. Jesus' Life and Light in you draws out the best in you. Are you doing the same for the lives you touch?

Generous Father, just as you've shared your life with me, let me share your life with everyone you put in my path. May I faithfully serve the purpose for which you created me. Let the light of your love bring out the best in everyone I meet.

"For they didn't get the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them; but your right hand, and your arm, and the light of your face, because you were favorable to them." ~ "He who loves his brother remains in the light, and there is no occasion for stumbling in him."
Psalm 44:3; 1 John 2:10
