For God's Sake

"You have heard that it was said,
'An eye for an eye, and
a tooth for a tooth.'
But I tell you,
don't resist him
who is evil;
but whoever strikes you on your right cheek,
turn to him the other also.
If anyone sues you
to take away your coat,
let him have your cloak also.
Whoever compels you to go one mile,
go with him two.
Give
to him
who asks you,
and don't turn away
him who
desires to borrow
from you." MATT. 5:38-42

When you want to get even with another person for their offense toward you, it is usually because you are focused on the person and righting the wrong yourself. If you focus on God first and his will, asking him to show you what attitude he wants you to have, you can trust him for the results. Give the offender God's response and not yours. Give yourself the gift of relying on God to handle those situations so much better than what you are capable of on your own. Jesus wants you to give to whoever asks you. He is a debtor to no man and his blessings will always exceed your expectations!

Heavenly Father, you are so generous! Protect me from myself when I want to strike back. Heal my hurts and help me to forgive whoever offends me. Whatever I do help me to work at it with all my heart remembering I work for you and not for other people.

"For Yahweh has driven great and strong nations out from before you. But as for you, no man has stood before you to this day. One man of you shall chase a thousand; for it is Yahweh your God who fights for you, as he spoke to you. Take good heed therefore to yourselves, that you love Yahweh your God." ~ "You will not need to fight this battle. Set yourselves, stand still, and see the salvation of Yahweh with you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Don't be afraid, nor be dismayed. Go out against them tomorrow, for Yahweh is with you." ~ "Remember this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart; not grudgingly, or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work."
