Heartfelt Prayer

"But you,
when you pray,
enter into your inner room,
and having shut your door,
pray to your Father
who is in secret,
and your Father who sees
in secret
will reward you openly.
In praying,
don't use vain repetitions,
as the Gentiles do;
for they think that they will be heard
for their much speaking.
Therefore don't be like them,
for your Father knows what things you need,
before you ask him." MATT. 6:6-8

Do you close your door to the world and your emotions to be secretly still before God? When you deliberately shut the door of distraction, looking to Jesus only, you can listen more clearly. Jesus loves you so much he cherishes intimate time with you. He wants to hear what you have to say. He sees the wondrous essence of who he made you to be. He created all that you are to commune with him. Cultivate that relationship by beginning each day with Jesus. Allow yourself time with him so your life may be marked with the lasting imprint of his presence!

Dear God, sometimes I don't know what to say to you. You seem distant. And I am afraid. Thank you for loving me as I am. Close the doors of distraction in my life that demand my attention. Give me eyes to see you, ears to hear your voice and a still heart to receive your wonderful presence now and throughout the day. Please help me to openly share with you what is in my heart. May our quiet moments together bring more clarity than the loudest activities of the day.

"The secret things belong to Yahweh our God; but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law." ~ "Won't God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart." ~ "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise." ~ "I am inquired of by those who didn't ask; I am found by those who didn't seek me: I said, See me, see me, to a nation that was not called by my name. I have spread out my hands all the day to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, after their own thoughts." ~ "He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?" ~ "Worthy are you, our Lord and God, the Holy One, to receive the glory, the honor, and the power, for you created all things, and because of your desire they existed, and were created!"
